A native of Oxford, Mississippi, Katherine Arrechea
Reed, began her art career in high school as a
hobby, drawing charcoal sketches of local historic
buildings and experimenting with portraits of well
known personalities. However, textured paintings in
acrylic on canvas soon became the medium she
used to best capture a variety of subjects including
her love of all things great and small.
Her art is influenced by the events and people she
experiences on her daily journey through life. From
the wonder of children to the complexity of life that
exists in nature, she strives to recreate a memory or
a glimpse of life that can become a life of its own.
Art is living, stopped for a moment of wonder.
